Milka Chepkorir

Milka Chepkorir has been a champion of her Sengwer indigenous forest peoples in the Cherangany Hills in Kenya, and has been a strong voice supporting the Sengwer community in Embobut forest in the face of forceful evictions.

Milka wrote a powerful report on Sengwer Women’s Experience of Evictions and their involvement in the land rights struggle. Milka is particularly involved in awareness raising and empowerment of the youth and women in the community, and also coordinates the Community Land Act Now network that links forest peoples and pastoralist communities in Kenya and supports them to register their community lands.
